Galaxie Robotique was inspired by the popular 1980's movie Short Circuit and the sequel Short Circuit 2.  These hilarious science fiction films follow the adventures of a robot named "Johnny Number 5" and it's inventors, Ben and Newton.  Johnny Number 5 is an experimental military robot who is struck by lightning and suddenly develops human like consciousness and self-awareness.  In addition to being classic comedies, the Short Circuit movies explore a wide variety of concepts from artificial intelligence to robotic automation.  While these films primarily focused on earthly applications for robots, it would be interesting to see how they fit into the realm of space exploration.

Galaxie Robotique is a series of sketches by Stevan Pirkovic inspired by the idea of autonomous robots being used in space exploration.  Sketched with pencil and paper, this series explores what a hypothetical exploration robot might look like.  Galaxie Robotique is French and literally translates into, “Robotic Galaxy”.
